Maniac, siendo una plataforma que promueve la participación entre artistas por medio de la colaboración de NFTs, organizó un evento en el que se invitó a artistas mexicanos a unirse en la creación de la primera colección de Alebrijes Digitales, en el que fueron votadas las mejores propuestas y posteriormente puestas en venta en OpeanSea.
Para esta colección y concurso se crearon propuestas 3D y 2D, permitiendo a los creadores diversificar su contenido, participar en ambas contiendas y aumentar sus posibilidades. Convirtiéndose en un pionero en su especie, ya que las propuestas se convierten en NFTs, permitiendo a los participantes conservar su autoría y en caso de no ganar ofrecer la posibilidad de venderla a través de Open Sea.

Entrevistamos a Aldo Parallel, creador del Alebrije 3D ganador y nos compartió lo siguiente:
¿Qué es lo que más disfrutaste de la creación de un Alebrije digital?
Conocer el origen de la historia, entender la metodología de los artesanos y la investigación sobre los animales transparentes que viven en territorio México, sus hábitats, puntos fuertes y débiles de su especie.
El concurso me pareció muy creativo, tanto las dinámicas como los premios, tienen buenas ideas, deberán seguir haciendo más como esta.
¿Cuál fue tu inspiración para la fracción de tu Alebrije Digital y cómo decidiste participar?
La inspiración proviene de mi atracción por los animales transparentes, desde muy pequeño he quedado fascinado por esa cualidad evolutiva que pocos especímenes muestran, cualquiera pensaría que son frágiles por su transparencia, pero resulta que son más fuertes, por habilidades adicionales que adoptan.
Particularmente me inspire en el pez duende, rana de cristal, mariposa de cristal y oruga de cristal.
Decidí participar, cuando escuché a Felipe Linares, (hijo de Pedro Linares inventor de los alebrijes) en una entrevista donde decía que ya quería hacer algo diferente con los alebrijes, ese discurso me motivó para pensar en otros animales fuera de los que ya hemos visto repetidas veces.
¿Participarías activamente en la creación de NFTS en un futuro?
Totalmente, seguiré realizando más obras de NFT a larguísimo plazo.

Thousand Wing Dragon Alebrije by hafid.mx
Alebrijes are the spiritual form of animals and other creatures that roam this world, they are manifested through colorful and majestic forms in the spiritual realm thus this dragon comes from an old pet snake that passed away and was buried in the backyard of my house. The snake then takes the wings from multiple other creatures whose energy has been capture in the land nearby, a butterfly, a bat, an eagle, and even a demon. We also get a quick glimpse of a “Paleta de Elote” a spicy corn lollipop that a kid must’ve dropped nearby.
TORO v1.2 — Alebrije by Erick Sakal
TORO was inspired by the shape and presence of a powerful creature, with the design based on the original technique of Mexican Alebrije. Given that I had unlimited freedom using 3D techniques, I decided to play with the model’s colours, textures and materials on each polygon. The design represent the anger and rage of a bull while it’s striking and it’s posture demonstrates its strength and power to deliver the perfect impact. TORO v1.2 is part of a series of 3D animals.
MIZTLI Alebrije by Levi Nieto

Miztli is puma in nahuatl, which is one of the sacred animals in their cosmogony. The Puma was used as the base of this alebrije because there is a mythical creature named Acolmiztli, which was in charge to take care of the ones who refused to go to the other life. In my interpretation of the alebrije it has a duality of the spiritual world represented in the underworld by the purplish tones and the land of the living, represented by the colourful and more magical colors and patern.
ALEBRIJE, LU Sueño Lucido a través de la codependencia By Carla Santos
LU is the passage of what is my personal process for transcending in a stage of my life attached for violence and codependency. Is a lucid dream because I just recover sense inside a tide of emotions to finally resurface cause we all are light exalted in the darkness. LU is full of symbols from our Mayan culture, just as IK is, the wind and violence; KAN, maturity and finally KIMI, death and renaissance // LU es el pasaje de lo que es parte de mi proceso para trascender en una etapa de mi vida atada a la violencia y la codependencia. Es un sueño lúcido porque cobré sentido dentro de una marea de emociones para finalmente resurgir pues todos somos luz enaltecida por la oscuridad. Lu está lleno de símbolos de nuestra cultura maya, como lo son IK, el viento y la violencia; KAN, la madurez y finalmente KIMI, la muerte y renacimiento.

The goat is closely related to the “evil” even used to represent demons or dark entities and that is what attracts me the most. my obsession with goats, eyes and horns led me to create this piece, contrary to representing the dark, these vibrant colors contrast with that idea but without neglecting the strength of his gaze and how fearsome a goat could be huge and angry in the middle of the night. The name is in honor of my adventure companion who left for another place.

Some Alebrijes can appear terrifying by their nature. Their have strange shapes than don’t belong to a particular animal, and because they can be everyone and nothing at the same time. That makes them so special, and telling in other words, they are a form of creativity and expression that characterizes the Mexican imagination.
Algunos Alebrijes pueden verse terroríficos por su naturaleza, por sus formas tan extrañas que no pertenecen a un animal en particular y porque pueden ser todos y ninguno a la vez. Eso los hace tan especiales, y que diciéndolo de otra manera, son una forma de creatividad y expresión que caracteriza al imaginario mexicano.
